The Ghost Sifting Banners are the Yin Sifting Sect's protective signature treasure. There are 18 banners in total that could defend against Deity Transformation cultivators when all of them were gathered together. The Yin Sifting Sect's ancestor forbid gathering all 18 banners under a single person unless the sect was facing a sect-ending calamity. As a result, the banners were distributed amongst the 18 highest-ranking cultivators within the Yin Sifting Sect. The grand-elder was required to obey this iron-clad rule.[1]
To refine a banner one uses souls. Several hundred cultivator souls are required to refine a single main banner.
A Ghost Sifting Banner can grow one meter tall and form a dark-green Yin cloud. When it will grow six meteres tall, the banner's surface is densely filled by innumerable faces of souls. It can also release skulls of demonic beasts and ghost skulls.[2]
